Man arrested after death of nine-year-old girl found seriously injured at Arbroath industrial estate
Police said a 35-year-old man has been arrested as inquiries continue into the girl’s death, which is being treated as suspicious.
Around 12.02am on Monday, officers were called to Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath after a nine-year-old girl was found with serious injuries; she was transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she died.
Police Scotland arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with the death, with Detective Superintendent Nicky McGovern confirming officers are investigating the incident at the industrial estate.
Emergency services attended the scene after the child was discovered early in the morning, with authorities treating the death as "suspicious" according to Police Scotland.
Specialist officers are supporting her family as inquiries continue, with Police Scotland working to establish the circumstances surrounding the nine-year-old girl's death.
Following the arrest, authorities continue the investigation in Arbroath as a 35-year-old man remains in custody pending further inquiries.
