Man charged over terror attack at Manchester synagogue last year
Hakim is accused of withholding information tied to the attack that killed 2 worshippers and left 3 others seriously injured.
Counter Terrorism Policing North West charged Iraqi national Hekmat Omar Ali Hakim with failing to disclose information regarding terrorist activity under Section 38b of the Terrorism Act 2000.
Jihad Al-Shamie, a Syrian-born British citizen, drove into the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue gates in October last year and attacked with a knife, killing Worshippers Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby.
Three other men were treated for serious injuries in the attack last year, though all three have since been released from hospital.
Hakim has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday, August 21, 2026, facing the Section 38b charge.
Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts said the charge "is the culmination of a substantial amount of meticulous work," supported by the Crown Prosecution Service in identifying anyone involved in the attack.
