Court Hears Andrew's Statement on Stalker Case; Trial Set for December
Andrew’s statement says a man with a loose dog sprinted after his vehicle, as prosecutors rely on phone-search evidence in the stalking case.
On Thursday, Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram ruled that Prince Andrew, Stephen Terry, and an eyewitness must provide evidence again for the Stalking Protection Order application against 39-year-old Alex Jenkinson.
Jenkinson faces charges of using threatening behavior toward Prince Andrew near his Sandringham Estate home on May 6, during which Andrew stated, "Then he realised who I was and began to sprint after my vehicle."
During Thursday's hearing, Judge Ikram barred Jenkinson's dog, Indie, from the courtroom after lawyer Claire Howell failed to provide corroborating documents for the defendant's support animal claims.
Jenkinson remains on bail with conditions prohibiting him from entering Norfolk or contacting Andrew, while the criminal trial for the alleged public order offense is set for December 21.
Judge Ikram extended the interim Stalking Protection Order, setting a pre-trial hearing for January 22 at Loughborough Magistrates' Court and a final hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court on February 16.
