The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, today called for the strengthening of Africa's "health sovereignty" and the reduction of its "external dependence", in a context marked by severe cuts in global funding.
The Director General of WHO said that many African leaders understood this crisis as "an opportunity to leave behind the age of dependence and make the long-awaited dream of African health sovereignty a reality"
