Berlin, Sept. 14 (CNA) A topping out ceremony was held Monday at the site of a plant being built in Germany by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), indicating that the fab is progressing as planned and within budget, according to the head of a joint venture company in charge of the project.
Dresden semiconductor fab reaches topping-out milestone
ESMC has completed the shell of its Dresden semiconductor factory. The €10 billion project is moving towards production preparation as TSMC and its European partners add automotive and industrial chip capacity in Saxony.
A new chip factory is being built for ten billion euros in the capital city of Saxony. This will create 2,000 new jobs for TSMC, Bosch, Infineon and NXP Semiconductors. Additional jobs will be added by 2040.
