Germany will extend border controls until mid-March 2027, the DPA agency reports. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt announced this at the end of July after tens of thousands of people temporarily entered the Spanish enclave of Ceuta from Morocco. He has now reported the decision to the European Commission.
In fact, the borders in the Schengen area are supposed to be open, but for two years this has no longer been the case for the German external borders.
