Honouring Dorothy: Tiny turtles tucked away in James Bay a gesture of kindness
Pam Olund is hiding tiny resin turtles in James Bay to honor Dorothy and encourage small acts of kindness, she said.
To honour her late sister-in-law Dorothy, resident Pam Olund is hiding tiny resin turtles throughout James Bay for passersby to discover.
While undergoing chemotherapy treatments this spring, Dorothy often found joy counting turtles at Goodacre Lake in Beacon Hill Park, a practice she cherished deeply.
Telling Victoria News that "we just want people to be kind to each other," Olund hopes the hidden figures inspire compassion among those who find them.
When people discover a hidden turtle, Olund intends for them to "feel a little lighter in their day; a little happier," serving as a reminder that someone cares.
The project mirrors the kindness Dorothy showed others, including greeting strangers with a "hello," ensuring her legacy of compassion continues through these small gestures.
