Georges Potvin died last June in an IGA supermarket in Longueuil after an altercation with a security officer dressed in civilian clothes. The law forbids these agents to use excessive force, but dozens of gaps have been found in recent years, La Presse has learned. The Minister of Homeland Security, Ian Lafrenière, believes that the law governing the private security industry needs to be thoroughly reformed.
