Catholic Schools NSW CEO Dallas McInerney sacked after fronting anti-corruption commission
Investigators allege up to $265,000 in schools funding was diverted through sham invoices, and McInerney is accused of wiping devices while under oath.
On Friday morning, Catholic Schools NSW terminated Chief Executive Dallas McInerney following his testimony at the Independent Commission Against Corruption, with the CSNSW Board stating it lost confidence in his ability to "lead the organisation into the future."
Investigators allege McInerney diverted up to $265,000 in school funding to the NSW Reformers, a conservative Liberal Party sub-faction, through sham invoices issued by Beckington and JPG Advisory.
During his third day of evidence on Monday, McInerney admitted to performing a factory reset on his work devices, which Counsel Assisting Peggy Dwyer SC labeled a "transparent attempt" to destroy evidence.
The CSNSW Board stated there was "no suggestion that CSNSW is responsible for the alleged conduct," distancing the organisation that oversees almost 600 Catholic schools from the inquiry.
McInerney has repeatedly denied knowledge of the scheme, while Archbishop Anthony Fisher and the Catholic Church previously formed CSNSW in 2016 to ensure a more "appropriate, efficient and transparent" administration.
