Field announced for Longacres Mile at Emerald Downs in Auburn
Touchy drew the No. 1 post and opened as the 7/5 favorite after an eight-horse field was announced, officials said.
On Wednesday, August 12, Emerald Downs officials announced an eight-horse field for the 91st Longacres Mile, scheduled for Sunday, August 16, in Auburn.
Four-Year-Old colt Touchy opened as the 7/5 favorite after an impressive June 10 win at Churchill Downs, while second favorite Si That Tiger enters having won seven of his first eight races under jockey leader Silvio Amado.
Veteran Tiz Whiz, trained by Tom Wendell, seeks his second Longacres Mile title in his fifth consecutive appearance, while Washington Racing Hall of Fame inductee Wesley Ward returns to the track to compete.
The remaining field includes Adios Jojo at 15-1, Executive Chef at 12-1, He's Not Talking at 12-1, J.B. Books at 20-1, and Catch a Breeze at 50-1 with assigned jockeys Frank Alvarado, Kevin Orozco, Isaias Enriquez, Pablo Castillo, Kevin Kreigger, and Alex Anaya.
Festivities begin Sunday at noon with the Railbird Rally before races start at 1:50 p.m., following a kickoff event for Championship Sunday hosted by directors Joe Withee and Vince Braun.
