Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw offers health update amid cancer treatment
The actress said her treatment team will decide on a sixth round and whether surgery to remove tumours must be postponed.
Actress Tracy Shaw shared an update on Instagram revealing she completed her fifth round of chemotherapy. The 53-year-old noted her heart and organs remain healthy despite the treatment taking a physical toll.
Persistent shingles and other side effects, including splitting nails, swollen hands, and skin 'shedding' and 'peeling' on her feet, are wearing on her nerve endings. Shaw described the condition as a 'warning sign' her body is struggling.
Shaw reported her immune system is 'lower than low' and will likely drop further from ongoing chemotherapy. Despite this, she remains determined to 'remain positive' and is taking her recovery 'one day at a time.'
In three weeks, the oncology team will decide whether to proceed with the 'full whack' of a sixth chemotherapy round. That consultation will also determine if her surgery to remove tumors must be postponed.
Regardless of the sixth chemotherapy decision, Shaw will continue receiving painful leg injections. She plans to provide another update in three weeks regarding her surgery and ongoing treatment progress.
