Brian Hickerson's attorney issues statement after Hayden Panettiere's death
Police say no foul play has been found as toxicology remains pending and the Drug Enforcement Administration joins the investigation.
On Thursday, the Drug Enforcement Administration joined the investigation into actor Hayden Panettiere's death, though officials stated their specific role remains unknown at this time.
First responders in Greenville found Panettiere unresponsive at Judson Mill Lofts on Sunday, Aug. 16, after a 911 call, but resuscitation efforts proved unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at 2:31 p.m.
An autopsy completed Monday by the Greenville County Coroner's Office found no signs of trauma, and preliminary findings revealed no indications of foul play, though toxicology testing remains pending.
Brian Hickerson, Panettiere's on-and-off boyfriend, broke his silence Thursday through attorney Sloan Ellis, urging the public to allow the investigation to proceed without jumping to conclusions.
While Panettiere and Hickerson had a documented history of domestic violence, police have not accused him of any wrongdoing in her death, and investigators spoke with both Hickerson and his brother, Zach Hickerson, at the scene.
