Gayle King Calls Out Hayden Panettiere's Mom for Comments After Her Death
King said Vogel’s remarks were unseemly and urged her to follow the example of Panettiere’s father, who praised his daughter after her death.
On Wednesday, Gayle King criticized Lesley Vogel on "CBS Mornings" for comments regarding her late daughter, actress Hayden Panettiere, who died August 16 in a Greenville, South Carolina apartment complex.
Vogel managed Panettiere's career from infancy until the actress ended their professional relationship at age 19, creating a long-term estrangement Panettiere later described as a "work in progress" in her memoir.
During a Tuesday interview with NBC News, Vogel railed against Panettiere's boyfriend Brian Hickerson, claiming the actress sadly lost her way and went down "the wrong path."
Co-Anchor Vladimir Duthiers joined King in criticizing Vogel, noting Panettiere publicly acknowledged her mental health struggles and arguing it was "unseemly" to remind the world of past trauma now.
King urged Vogel to follow the lead of Skip Panettiere, Hayden's father, who honored his daughter as an "incredible light and a force of nature" following her death.
