Afghan asylum seeker who raped a 13-year-old Nottinghamshire schoolgirl jailed for nine years
Khan was convicted of multiple sex offences after using Snapchat to pose as a 14-year-old boy and arrange the attack, police said.
On Monday, Nottingham Crown Court sentenced 28-year-old asylum seeker Abdul Khan to nine and a half years in prison for grooming and raping a 13-year-old girl.
Khan, who arrived in Britain in 2015, used Snapchat to pose as a 14-year-old boy before arranging to meet the victim at a nature reserve in Clifton, Nottingham, last May.
DNA evidence linked Khan to the attack, and a jury convicted him last week of two rape charges, sexual activity with a child, and related offences after he denied all allegations.
Judge Mark Watson ordered Khan to register as a sex offender indefinitely and confirmed he faces automatic deportation to Afghanistan after serving two-thirds of his sentence.
The victim reported feeling "numb" and suffering flashbacks, while Khan was already serving a 23-month sentence for sexual communication with another child in Derbyshire before this conviction.
