Man guilty of harassing MP Stella Creasy on Tube train
Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram said the prosecution proved Wilby intended to cause alarm or distress after he blocked Creasy and filmed her.
- On Tuesday, Westminster Magistrates' Court found 63-year-old Clifford Wilby guilty of harassing Labour MP for Walthamstow Stella Creasy on a Victoria Line train last year.
- Wilby targeted Creasy on July 15 last year, blocking the carriage exit while shouting about knife crime and her "failings as a Member of Parliament" before filming her.
- Passengers intervened after Wilby became "abusive and aggressive," with one man positioning himself between them as Creasy stated, "I was worried that because Mr Wilby was escalating."
- Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram ruled Wilby intended to cause alarm, noting footage showed him telling Creasy, "I don't care about your feelings, your feelings don't matter to me."
- The court adjourned sentencing until September 8. The incident followed a 2024 Zoom meeting Creasy ended due to Wilby's behavior.
