The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has made critical changes to the Turkish Food Codex Drinking Milk Regulation. With the new regulation, confusing intermediate fat percentages in drinking milk have been eliminated, and milk has been categorized into four classes. A 5% limit has been introduced for added sugar, and strict criteria have been set for the term "natural."

Significant changes have been made to drinking milk. According to Minister Yumaklı's statement, the intermediate fat classifications such as "percentage of fat" have been removed. Furthermore, in milk with added sugar, glucose and fructose syrups, other than sucrose, are now prohibited.

Many rules have changed, from the classification of fats in drinking milk to the use of sugar. The new regulation eliminated intermediate fat ratios, while an upper limit was imposed on the amount of added sugar and total sugar. The term “natural” can only be used in certain milks. Businesses have been granted a period of compliance until March 31, 2027.
