Marvel Has Found Its Storm in Broadway Breakout, Maya Boyd
The 23-year-old actor makes her feature-film debut after Broadway roles and mentorship from Debbie Allen helped shape her path.
- On Friday, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige unveiled Maya Boyd as Storm during the D23 presentation in Anaheim, with the X-Men reboot scheduled for release on May 5, 2028.
- Boyd, a 23-year-old Broadway-trained performer, is making her feature-film debut after recently starring in August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone on stage.
- Boyd follows Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp as the next actress to portray Storm; Berry played the character in original X-Men films, while Shipp appeared in later installments.
- On Saturday, Boyd updated her Instagram bio with three lightning bolt emojis, a gesture fans immediately embraced as a sign of her commitment to the iconic mutant role.
