- On Friday, Swiss athlete Audrey Werro delighted the home crowd at the Lausanne Diamond League, winning the 800m in a meet-record 1:55.33 while holding off Femke Broeders-Bol's late charge.
- Broeders-Bol, the former two-time world 400m hurdles champion, finished second in a national record of 1:55.41, continuing her successful transition to the 800m this season.
- Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi powered to victory in the men's 800m with 1:42.19, while Botswana's Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo dominated his race in 19.87 seconds.
- Extending her season-long winning streak, American Olympic champion Masai Russell won the 100m hurdles in 12.27 seconds. "It was another win, so it keeps the streak alive, and I'm very pleased," Russell said.
- The Diamond League Finals will take place in Brussels on 4 and 5 September, marking the final showdown for the world's elite track stars as the season concludes.
