Vancouver Whitecaps to play MLS sprint season at BC Place after extending lease
The club says the lease extension will support ticket sales while it keeps working on a longer-term stadium solution.
The Vancouver Whitecaps began selling tickets for the 2027 "sprint season" on Tuesday after extending their lease at BC Place through the condensed campaign.
Revenue generation remains limited because the club does not own BC Place, a 55,000-seat venue operated by provincial Crown corporation PavCo, constraining the team's financial growth.
Renovations ahead of the FIFA World Cup introduced premium sections including the "Tunnel Club" and "Creekside Terrace," offering "all-inclusive premium hospitality experience." Some season ticket members face price increases for these converted seats.
Star midfielder Thomas Muller signed a contract extension through the sprint season, though uncertainty remains regarding his future and the club's trajectory beyond 2027.
The condensed campaign features each of the league's 30 teams playing a 14-game regular season before single-elimination playoffs, positioning the Whitecaps for a critical transition year before MLS's summer-to-spring calendar shift in July 2027.
