Vancouver-area home sales down 8.4 per cent in September as prices fall: board
Vancouver-Area home sales declined 8.4 per cent in September compared to last year, as the regional housing market faced continued pressure on transaction volumes.
Greater Vancouver Realtors recorded 1,717 transactions last month, a figure 25 per cent below the 10-year seasonal average as fewer apartment-style homes changed hands.
New listings totaled 5,852, down 10.3 per cent year-over-year, while total inventory fell four per cent to 16,394, remaining 24.3 per cent above the long-term average.
Andrew Lis, the board's chief economist, noted that despite the overall decrease, attached and detached home sales remained slightly above last year's levels.
The composite benchmark price for all residential properties in Vancouver reached $1,075,900, marking a 5.5 per cent decrease from September 2025 and a 0.6 per cent decline from August 2026.
