Crystal Palace Signs US Teenager Gozo in $15M Club Record Sale for Real Salt Lake
The 19-year-old American has six goals and five assists in 16 MLS appearances and joins fellow countryman Chris Richards at Palace.
On Tuesday, Premier League side Crystal Palace signed 19-year-old wing-back Zavier Gozo from Real Salt Lake to a five-year contract with a reported transfer fee of $15 million.
The Utah native logged 3,591 minutes with Real Salt Lake, establishing himself as a top prospect by scoring six goals and four assists in 16 MLS games this season.
Regarding the move, Gozo said, "It's the dream of any footballer." Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish added, "I am looking forward to seeing what Zavier can achieve."
Now managed by Pierre Sage, Gozo joins a Crystal Palace squad that includes fellow United States defender Chris Richards, entering his fifth season with the club.
With head coach Mauricio Pochettino staying on, Gozo remains a key prospect for the United States men's national soccer team as they build toward the 2030 World Cup.
