Pesticide residues found in drinking water across Quebec
A new report by an environmental advocacy group has found pesticide residues in drinking water in more than 30 Quebec municipalities, including a widely used chemical compound considered among the most impactful on the environment and human health.
Residues of a pesticide considered by Quebec to be more hazardous to health and the environment than glyphosate were detected in drinking water.
Analyses by Vigilance GMO have detected residues of a pesticide considered to be hazardous to health by Quebec in the waters of cities in which Longueuil was found to be in a concentration above the threshold established by the European Union. The City of Longueuil ensures that all applicable regulatory requirements are met and has requested technical advice in order to obtain "independent scientific lighting".
