A traditional Christmas fruit cake (stollen), prepared in the Erzgebirge region of eastern Germany and intended to be offered to Pope Leon XIV, was transported to Rome in an official vehicle, the authorities of Dresden, the capital of Saxony, according to DPA, announced on Tuesday.
Instead of flying by plane, a commercial car brings the four-kilometre gift from the Erzgebirge to the Vatican. The Saxon State Chancellery explains the unusual transport.
