The former foreign secretary would be interviewed for his position at BYD.
The National Security Committee of the parliament will hear former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó on Monday, who would be questioned in connection with BYD, the Tisza faction told MTI on Friday.
The National Security Committee of the parliament is set to question former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó next Monday about his new senior management position at China's BYD. The Tisza faction initiated the meeting because they believe the former minister's rapid change of job raises serious national security and conflict of interest issues, MTI reported.
According to the TISZA Party, the fact that the former Minister of Foreign Affairs took on a management position at the Chinese company with which he previously negotiated as a minister raises issues of national security and conflict of interest.
During his ministry, a state infrastructure development worth HUF 70 billion landed at BYD, and after the election defeat, Szijjártó officially joined the Chinese company's payroll — according to the Tisza, “the Hungarian people have the right to clairvoyance”.
