Vilnius Cogeneration Power Plant (VKJ), due to the priority given to Vilnius waste, no longer accepts sorted waste from the Alytus region for incineration, says Druskininkai Mayor Ričardas Malinauskas.
Druskininkai City Mayor Ričardas Malinauskas says that Vilnius is unable to deal with its waste, which is causing an emergency situation in the Alytus region. Therefore, he, together with other mayors of the region's municipalities, appealed to the country's highest institutions, demanding responsible coordinated decisions so that while saving Vilnius, Alytus does not suffer.
As the garbage crisis in the Vilnius region continues, Ričardas Malinauskas, the mayor of Druskininkai, warns that an emergency situation is brewing in the Alytus region as a result - according to him, the Vilnius Cogeneration Power Plant (VKJ), which incinerates waste, has no longer accepted sorted waste from the Alytus region since the beginning of August.
