Telus Sues Ex-Employee for Using Company Card to Buy Thousands of Items Worth $1M
Telus says Raymond Chow used company cards to buy more than 2,500 items and resell them for personal profit.
On Wednesday, Telus filed a civil lawsuit in British Columbia Supreme Court against former director Raymond Chow, alleging he used corporate credit cards to purchase over 2,500 items worth over $1.09 million.
Chow, who oversaw technical products until his firing, allegedly directed subordinates to use a shared Amazon business account linked to corporate cards while approving the fraudulent expense claims himself.
Internal records titled "ordering masterpiece" and "Raymond receipts needed" tracked the purchases, which Chow allegedly stored at his West Side of Vancouver home before reselling them online.
Telus terminated Chow for "fraud, deceit and conversion" and seeks "special, aggravated, exemplary and punitive damages," alleging his conduct demonstrates "complete disregard" for company interests.
None of the allegations filed in court have been proven, and Chow has not yet filed a response to the lawsuit regarding the $1,093,283.50 in misappropriated funds.
