Teenage Boy Jailed for Life for Murder over £20 Drug Debt
The killer was influenced online and had threatened Joshua over a £20 cannabis debt, court heard.
On Friday, a 17-year-old was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 14 years for murdering 16-year-old Joshua Ingram at Seaford railway station on September 10, 2025.
The attack stemmed from a £20 cannabis debt; the teenager, influenced by online content, had adopted a 'faux gangster persona' and messaged extensively about harming Ingram before the stabbing.
Messages from the teenager's phone revealed he boasted he was 'ready to sit in a prison cell for 30 years over a £20 sheet' and threatened 'Josh will perish if I don't get my f****** money.'
Joshua's mother, Yvette Bullen, told the court the family 'will suffer the life sentence' and urged others to report knife carrying rather than assisting offenders, describing her son as 'worth so much more than £20.'
Two other teenagers, aged 17 and 15, received 12-month youth rehabilitation orders for assisting the offender. British Transport Police Detective Chief Inspector Paul Stanley, the senior investigating officer, called the case 'deeply tragic.
