Suspended Punishment for Eckert for Part in 'Spygate'
The Football Association imposed a six-week suspended suspension and a £28,000 fine after Southampton admitted three breaches of EFL rules.
On Wednesday, the Football Association fined Southampton Football Club manager Tonda Eckert £28,000 and handed him a suspended six-week ban following the 'Spygate' investigation into unauthorized training-session surveillance.
Saints previously faced expulsion from the Championship play-offs, denying them a potential £200m promotion to the Premier League, while receiving a four-point deduction from the EFL for this season.
Admitting to three breaches of EFL Regulations, Eckert confirmed he monitored training sessions at Middlesbrough, Oxford, and Ipswich, accepting full responsibility for the 'misconduct' charged by the Football Association.
Southampton owner Dragan Solak expressed relief at the ruling, stating the club has "suffered enough" while backing Eckert to lead the team to a "successful season" ahead.
Eckert remains in his role against Portsmouth this Sunday, though the suspended ban activates through the 2027/28 season if any further spying-related breaches occur.
