Indiana Woman Wrestles Escape Artist Alligator Picked up by Police
An early-morning commuter spotted the reptile, and police secured it without incident before transferring it to a reptile sanctuary.
On Sunday morning, an early-morning commuter spotted an alligator on a sidewalk in Jeffersonville, Indiana, prompting the Jeffersonville Police Department to respond to the scene.
Officials have not determined how the alligator ended up roaming through town or whether it escaped from a private residence, leaving its origins a mystery.
Police arrived at the scene and safely secured the alligator without incident, with no officers or the animal sustaining injuries during the operation.
Following the capture, the alligator was transferred to The Kentuckiana Scaletuary, a facility specifically equipped to care for reptiles and exotic animals.
The department shared the encounter on social media, concluding their post with: "It's not a goodbye, it's a see ya later alligator.
