Russia has a new weapon in the propagandistic war against Ukraine: songs generated with artificial intelligence. Hundreds of them — from sentimental walks to aggressive thrash metal — have appeared on the most popular music streaming platforms in the world, being created with the help of an increasing number of artificial intelligence-based music generators, many of them based in the United States, reports The New York Times.

In total, as many as 981 songs were found to be "pro-Russian war propaganda" according to Terrecon, with a majority of them being released after 2024 when AI song generators like Sudo and Udio took over the market.
Artificial intelligence is used for the wide-scale production of songs that glorify the Russian army and justify the invasion of Ukraine. Nearly 1,000 songs considered pro-Russian propaganda have been identified as part of an extensive research.
