Russian Missiles Strike Kyiv Railway Facility, Killing One Worker
Ukrzaliznytsia said the attack killed a foreman and damaged rail facilities, but train schedules and operations continued without disruption.
- Russian ballistic missiles struck a railway facility in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv early Saturday, killing one foreman. Ukrzaliznytsia CEO Oleksandr Pertsovskyi confirmed the strike occurred during a ballistic threat warning, though railway operations remain unaffected.
- The Saturday assault also damaged the Rozdilna station in The Odesa railway network, occurring two days before Ukraine marks its 35th Independence Day. Russian forces targeted the capital with ballistic missiles and loitering munitions, according to the Air Force.
- "One of our employees — a foreman — was killed on the spot. The rest were quickly evacuated after the first strike," Pertsovskyi said. City authorities reported the barrage also damaged residential buildings, a school, and a children's hospital.
- Emergency responders addressed a fire in a Darnytsia district warehouse caused by the strikes. The attack follows a recent barrage on Kyiv on Aug. 20, which resulted in 42 injuries and led the capital to observe an official day of mourning.
- The Security Service had previously urged citizens to remain vigilant, warning of potential Russian provocations surrounding the upcoming anniversary. Meanwhile, railway staff are already working to repair damage, ensuring train schedules continue despite the recent targeting of infrastructure.
