Wallabies Lock Miles Amatosero Banned 3 Weeks for Dangerous Play in Rugby Test Against Japan
Miles Amatosero was banned after a video match official ruled his shoulder contacted an opponent's head, sidelining him for three games.
On Tuesday, a southern hemisphere rugby judiciary committee suspended Wallabies lock Miles Amatosero for three weeks following dangerous play during Australia's 35-32 win over Japan in Osaka last weekend.
A red card for high contact in a ruck during the 33rd minute at Hanazono Rugby Stadium resulted in Amatosero's dismissal, with officials ruling his shoulder made contact with an opponent's head.
New Wallabies coach Les Kiss, who selected the 203-centimeter lock as a starter, defended the player, stating, "I don't think that was an emotional decision," despite the 24-year-old's volatile reputation.
The suspension forces Amatosero to miss Saturday's return clash against Japan in Townsville and a club match for Gordon in Sydney's Shute Shield.
Completing a coaching intervention programme could allow Amatosero to return for Australia's test match against Argentina in San Salvador later this month.
