Rapper Rick Ross charged with battery after domestic violence accusation
The rapper denied the allegations and was barred from contacting the alleged victim as he awaits an Oct. 22 arraignment.
On Thursday, October 1, 2026, rapper Rick Ross was arrested in Miami Beach and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery charges, held on a $6,000 bond.
Police records allege the August 28 incident occurred at Ross' Star Island home when he grew "enraged" over an Instagram photo, then slapped the victim and choked her "to the point she could not breathe," according to the arrest report.
The victim provided detectives with sworn statements and timestamped photographs of her injuries; attorney Bradley Horenstein filed a not guilty plea for William Leonard Roberts II, claiming the artist is "being wrongfully accused."
A judge issued a stay-away order barring Ross from contacting the victim, while he remains held on $6,000 bond with arraignment scheduled for October 22, 2026.
Officials have not confirmed whether these charges connect to recent public allegations from former girlfriend Jazzma Kendrick, who posted photos of injuries on social media in late September; authorities treat the criminal case as separate.
