[Cable News] During his state visit to Kyrgyzstan, President Xi Jinping stated that China has the capability and confidence to overcome the Gyirong landslide disaster in Tibet and rebuild its homes. Xi Jinping:
A mudslide struck the Kidong checkpoint on the China-Nepal border. Multiple warnings may have existed prior to the disaster, including a 2014 geological hazard assessment, studies indicating a glacial lake outburst risk, and a 2025 bridge collapse forecast. The decision to reopen customs is being put to the test.
