The first Chinese rescue teams managed to reach today by land the center of the area affected by the storm on the Tibetan border of Gyirong, between China and Nepal, Xinhua state agency reported.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang, acting on instructions from President Xi Jinping, visited the site of the landslide in Gyirong County, Xizang Autonomous Region in southwestern China, to oversee rescue and emergency response efforts. Five people died and 558 are missing, including 260 foreign nationals, following the floods and landslide near the Gyirong border crossing.
