Qatar rules out Hormuz bypass, launches new investments platform
Qatar said a gas pipeline to bypass the Strait of Hormuz would make no economic sense. It also launched a new investment platform to manage QIA’s domestic holdings and outlined more than $60bn in investment opportunities, in a major reshaping of its sovereign wealth strategy.
New York: On Sunday, the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, announced the establishment of a new section of Qatar ' s investment agency dedicated to the development of domestic investment, a step that marked a shift in the direction of the sovereign wealth fund, which had always focused its efforts on the development of wealth abroad.
