Public Health braces for outsized share of budget cuts as state mandates squeeze San Juan County - The Journal of the San Juan Islands

San Juan County officials warned this week that public health is absorbing a disproportionate share of looming budget cuts. A new state mandate is set to add a $320,000 hit to the 2027 budget — on top of a $350,000 “foundational” mental health cut the County already absorbed in July — a combined impact council members put at roughly three-quarters of a million dollars.
