- On Sunday, Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa announced that Damascus is pursuing a security agreement with Israel involving several countries, while maintaining Syria will not relinquish its claim to the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
- Al-Sharaa told Al Jazeera that Syria has "no interest" in military confrontation with Israel, explaining that a security arrangement could pave the way for broader peace following repeated incursions since Bashar al-Assad's government collapsed.
- Regarding the crisis in neighboring Lebanon, Al-Sharaa ruled out military intervention and affirmed support for the Lebanese state's exclusive control over arms, after President Donald Trump suggested Syria could handle Hezbollah "differently and more precisely" than Israel.
- Addressing domestic challenges, the president acknowledged delays in implementing an agreement with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, while announcing a special committee to manage the issue of up to 300,000 Syrians missing during the war.
- Relations with Iraq are "continuously improving," Al-Sharaa noted, though he argued that lifting economic sanctions would remain ineffective unless Syria is removed from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
