Police Investigating Double Death as Pair Found in House with ‘Fatal Injuries’
Autopsies will determine the cause and manner of death as state police assist and authorities say there is no danger to the public.
On Wednesday, Rumford Police Department officers discovered a man and a woman dead inside a Franklin Street home during a wellness check shortly before 9 a.m.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and Maine State Police Evidence Response Team responded to the scene at the request of the Rumford Police Department to launch the investigation.
Authorities transported the bodies to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where autopsies will determine the cause and manner of death and confirm identities.
State police emphasized there is no danger to the public, though officials have not released the names or ages of the deceased pending further investigation.
Neighbors reported the two had lived at the Franklin Street home for four to five years; residents expressed concern, noting the incident shook their quiet community.
