Pakistani’s military says security forces killed 49 militants in raids in northwest and southwest
The military said 12 militants were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 37 in Balochistan as Pakistan steps up operations against rising violence.
On Friday, Pakistani security forces killed 49 militants during intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, targeting networks identified as "Fitna al-Khawarij" and "Fitna al-Hindustan."
The operations, part of "Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3," target groups the government alleges operate from sanctuaries in Afghanistan and receive Indian support, accusations both nations deny.
Security forces killed 37 militants in Balochistan and 12 in K-P across multiple intelligence-based operations, while seizing a "significant quantity" of weapons, explosive drums, and remote-detonation equipment.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the forces' "professional expertise," while President Asif Ali Zardari vowed operations would continue until Pakistan is "soon be free of terrorism."
According to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data project, attacks in Pakistan rose to 2,425 in 2025, prompting the government to intensify counterterrorism efforts under the National Action Plan.
