- This challenge follows assertions by Anambra State Commissioner for Finance Izuchukwu Okafor that the state is still servicing loans from Obi and successor Willie Obiano's tenures, with the Obiano administration previously alleging N185.1 billion in liabilities.
- Defending his record, Obi stated, "As at the day I left office, I was not owing any salary, pension, or gratuity," maintaining all contractor liabilities were settled before his March 17, 2014 departure.
- Detailing his financial management, Obi cited a First Bank ecological fund account with about N2.1 billion earmarked for erosion projects, alongside claims his administration left over N75 billion in savings.
- Regarding the 2027 contest, Obi argued that Nigeria's election outcome should be decided by voters, stating, "Let it be a free, fair and credible election. Whatever the people decide, I will respect it.
