AI cloud firm Nscale files for US IPO
The London-based AI cloud provider reported a $1.02 billion net loss as it seeks capital to expand computing capacity for AI customers.
On Friday, London-based Nscale filed for a U.S. initial public offering, planning to list on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker "NSCL."
Founded in 2024 as a spinoff of Arkon Energy, the cryptocurrency mining firm, Nscale provides cloud infrastructure for AI models. CEO Josh Payne leads the company, which employed over 1,000 people as of Aug. 31.
For the six months ended June 30, 2026, Nscale reported a $1.02 billion net loss on $140.6 million in revenue. As of Aug. 31, the company held 25,000 active GPUs and 461,000 either active or contracted.
Recent board additions include Fidji Simo, a former OpenAI, Instacart and Meta executive, joining former Meta leaders Nick Clegg and Sheryl Sandberg. The company announced plans in July to acquire Anyscale, a startup specializing in AI model construction software.
Major cloud providers like Amazon and younger suppliers such as CoreWeave and Nebius compete with Nscale, while firms like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Microsoft drive demand for computing capacity. This positions Nscale within a rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market.
