Only once in the last 20 years have fewer salmon been caught in the Mandal River, and that was last year. This year's catch of 1,092 salmon is 60 percent lower than the average for the previous 10 years.
The figures indicate a dramatic decline in caught salmon in the Bjerkreim River. But the river owners' association does not understand how the statistics can be true.
