Union Transport Minister Gadkari on Wednesday blamed consultants for preparing flawed Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for accidents and deaths on highways. He warned that contractors who compromise on the quality of construction of national highways will not only be fined but also blacklisted.

This warning from Nitin Gadkari comes at a time when there are reports that his ministry is preparing tenders for tunnel projects costing Rs 2 to 2.5 lakh crore.
