An AI model trained on longitudinal digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) scans predicted 5-year breast cancer risk with an AUC of 0.721 — outperforming both 2D mammography AI and the Tyrer-Cuzick clinical model — and identified high-risk women within the "fatty breast" category that traditional density scoring would have missed.
