- On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the National Council of Educational Research and Training released Understanding Society: India and Beyond, Social Science Textbook for Grade 9, Part 2, arriving six months after the new academic session began.
- These Grade 9 books align with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023 and the National Education Policy 2020, supporting curriculum transition across the Secondary Stage.
- Highlighting historical resistance, the textbook documents invasions since the 7th century in a chapter titled "Resistance and Resilience." It also features women rulers including Queen Naiki Devi and Rani Abbakka Chowta under "The Mighty Maratha Women."
- Students and parents can purchase the new textbook starting today through NCERT Publication Division outlets and authorized vendors, with availability also on the official NCERT website and Amazon.
- This release follows Part 1, launched earlier this year, and accompanies the Mathematics textbook Ganita Prakash as part of Grade 9 curriculum implementation. Schools are advised to adopt the new syllabi immediately.
