2K says the update adds 29 dribble moves, upgraded shooting and smarter AI as it pushes for more realistic play.
- On Tuesday, 2K Games revealed NBA 2K27's new gameplay features, including updates to MyCareer and The City, ahead of the September 4, 2026 global launch. Pre-ordering Deluxe or Ultra Editions grants early access on August 28.
- Utilizing ProPLAY technology, the game captures realistic offensive moves, complemented by Expanded Dribbling Customization that breaks signature packages into 29 individual movements. Rhythm Shooting returns with strict timing precision requirements at the free-throw line and beyond.
- Defensive systems now feature Physical Defense with improved cutoff mechanics and Enhanced Matchup Switching to counter offensive plays. Computer-controlled opponents utilize improved AI logic to read and attack, while a new ball collision system rewards well-timed defense.
- San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama headlines the Standard version, while Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Bulls legend Derrick Rose grace the Deluxe and Ultra covers respectively.
- A Community Day event showcased nearly ten minutes of new additions, including a revamped Takeover system centered on five disciplines: Shooting, Finishing, Playmaking, Defense, and Rebounding. Equipped abilities trigger automatically once players maximize their discipline meter.
