Motorola Teases Wide Razr Fold Following Apple iPhone Duo Launch – Channelnews
Motorola briefly showed a wider Razr foldable in a video that appeared to take a swipe at Apple’s first folding phone.
- During Apple's event yesterday, Motorola posted a video on X showcasing its "Razr family" and teasing an unannounced wide foldable phone that previously leaked in sketches last week.
- The unannounced wide foldable appears in black finish with a horizontally oriented camera bar visible on the back, shown for 12 frames before the video cuts to black.
- Apple announced new products including the Pro, AirPods, Apple Watches, and the Duo, while Motorola is having fun at the company's expense, noting Apple is years late to the foldable party.
- With a squarer passport-style form factor, the new Duo resembles Samsung's latest non-Ultra Galaxy Fold 8, matching proportions the upcoming wider Razr also shares.
- Previous leaks indicated the wider Motorola device would arrive "in the coming months," though the company has not confirmed an exact launch date for the phone.

Motorola Teases Wide Razr Fold Following Apple iPhone Duo Launch – channelnews
Motorola has teased a new short and wide foldable smartphone that appears designed to challenge Apple’s iPhone Duo and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8. The company revealed the device’s silhouette at the end of a short social media video tracing 22 years of Razr hardware, beginning with the original 2004 flip phone. Unlike the clamshell design traditionally associated with Razr, the unnamed device uses a horizontal book-style fold and appears shorter and wider than Motorola’s existing Razr Fold. Its passport-like proportions resemble those adopted by Samsung’s latest Fold models and Apple’s newly announced iPhone Duo, which opens into a 7.6-inch display. The teaser also appears to show a horizontal camera bar extending across the rear panel. However, the device remains switched off throughout the clip, providing no indication of its displays, software or capabilities. Motorola accompanied the video with a pointed reference to Apple’s late arrival in the foldable category. “Some are just discovering it. We’ve been making it even better. Just wait for our next move,” the company said. Motorola has not confirmed the device’s name, specifications, pricing or launch date. It is also unclear whether the product shown is functional hardware or a non-operational model created for the teaser. The manufacturer already offers several clamshell Razr devices and launched its first full-sized book-style model, the Razr Fold (pictured below), earlier this year. That model features an 8.1-inch internal display and 6.6-inch cover screen, but the newly teased product appears positioned as a more compact alternative. Shorter, wider foldables are gaining momentum because they provide a more conventional smartphone shape when closed and a tablet-like aspect ratio when opened. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 opens into a 4:3 display designed to provide more space for applications, videos, games and multitasking than the taller panels used in earlier generations. The format has since been adopted by Apple and Xiaomi, whose recently launched 18 Fold also uses a wide 7.58-inch internal display. Motorola has not announced whether its new foldable will be released in Australia. Local pricing and availability remain unknown
