Mike Frisch’s quick tip: keep fishing
As lake traffic drops, anglers can find strong action for walleyes, bass and crappies with sonar, jigs and moving baits.
The next couple of months offer some of the finest fishing of the entire year as fish go on the bite in a big way when fall arrives and progresses.
With school and fall sports starting, lakes experience less traffic and fishing pressure, creating conditions where good numbers of fish are caught and some of the season's biggest specimens find their way into landing nets.
Walleye anglers can target fish from shallow to deep water using traditional jigs and live bait, while bass anglers utilize big, skirted jigs and Texas-rigged plastics to trigger strikes.
Crappies begin schooling in their wintering basins, where forward-facing sonar presentations allow anglers to "see" fish on sonar and cast baits to them during this transition period.
Mike Frisch, host of the popular Fishing the Midwest TV series, encourages anglers to take advantage of this period and Visit www.fishingthemidwest.com to learn more about fall techniques.
