The European Commission may give oil and gas importers an extra year to prepare for new rules on methane emissions. From 2027, imports of fossil fuels into the European Union must comply with monitoring and reporting rules intended to reduce methane emissions. European Commissioner Dan Jørgensen (Energy) said on Friday that the EU might postpone their implementation until 2028.
